The Problem Decision Tool is a user-friendly PowerApp developed by the VA Augusta Systems Redesign team to help staff quickly identify the most appropriate improvement methodology for their challenges. By guiding users through a series of simple yes/no questions, the tool directs them to the right approach—whether it’s a “Just Do It,” PDSA cycle, Innovation consult, or Lean Belt project. This digital solution has already helped avoid five unnecessary Rapid Process Improvement Workshops (RPIWs), saving an estimated $160,000 in labor costs at one facility alone. Now adopted by other VA sites, the tool is scalable, easy to implement, and fosters stronger collaboration between Systems Redesign and Innovation programs. Attendees will learn how this low-cost, high-impact innovation is transforming how VA staff approach problem-solving and how it can be replicated across the enterprise.
