This paper explores the integration and impact of Smart Patient Room technologies within Med-Surg Units, focusing on enhancing patient satisfaction and optimizing bedside nurse workflow. Using hospitals at Wellstar Health System as a case study, the research investigates current implementations across leading healthcare institutions, evaluates the effectiveness of available technologies, and proposes an optimized prototype model tailored for Wellstar’s operational needs. By analyzing tools such as Amazon Alexa, Care.ai sensors, and EPIC system integrations, the study identifies key patient- and clinician-focused innovations that support automation, safety, and personalized care. Challenges such as data security and staff training are addressed alongside a cost-benefit analysis of the proposed solutions. Ultimately, this research provides a strategic framework for hospitals seeking to align technological advancement with practical healthcare delivery, emphasizing efficiency, satisfaction, and scalability.
