Re-Entry into the Radiology Workforce
Description:
Interruptions in work experience and employment are common today. With current disruptions in healthcare and economics, more changes in the healthcare workforce is likely. Requirements for re-entry to the workforce vary by organization and state. Re-entry opportunities are available through national professional societies, universities and local institutions. A review of current practices for retraining healthcare workers for re-entry into the workforce after a brief interruption or a longer time horizon allows identification of both the needs and the current best practices. Common elements include competency-based assessments, simulation-based learning, and flexible scheduling to accommodate personal and professional needs.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the need/opportunity for re-entry training in their home institution.
Understand the differences between retraining for a skill not used for a short period of time as opposed to longer gaps in experience.
