Classroom Ergonomics: Designing Healthy Learning Environments
Description:
This course provides an introduction to ergonomics through an overview of major principles specific to classroom environments. We aim to elevate awareness of ergonomic concerns and provide an overview of common musculoskeletal problems facing today’s classrooms. We’ll discuss current design challenges in children K-12 and provide you with knowledge of essential ergonomic concepts to help support and enhance young learners’ experience. In this session we will apply ergonomic principles to the design of classroom settings in an effort to reduce students’ discomfort and risk of injury, to get the best out of their learning, and develop healthy habits.

Ola Sinelnikova holds an Honours Specialized Degree in Kinesiology & Health Sciences from York University with specialization in ergonomics. Ola is a registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario and a Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. Ola is successfully leading a team of ergonomists across North America, assisting organizations with designing, implementing and managing ergonomic and injury prevention programs. Ola is recognized for her contributions to occupational disability management, complex medical absenteeism cases, corporate health and wellness and injury prevention through implementation of effective and sustainable strategies for businesses. Ola speaks to the industrial and office sectors on issues related to ergonomics and comprehensive workplace wellness.
